Playing Catch Up 2017

Here we are about to end December and begin a new year and I wonder where has the year gone? It seems that 2017 just flew by. I thought I'd play Catch Up with what's been going on with Walker 1791 Salvage & Design and where we've been.

September had us working like crazy to get ready for our biggest antique show of the year, Antique Week in Warrenton Tx. Just as a disclaimer you probably know this show runs for more than a week and for us we are there for a month. This is what the founders (don't know who started this term) called it.

We took six loads to the Tree Park Antique Show in Warrenton Tx. It took us almost one week just to unload and set up everything. Here's a peek into our show that lasted until October 1st.

We were new to setting up at Tree Park this year and I really enjoyed this field. It was small, had a family like atmosphere and the other vendors around us were all really nice. We will be back here in the Spring hopefully sometime around March 15.

Even though there was much devastation around us with Hurricane Harvey we had a great show. Several showed up that were impacted by Harvey and they all said that they just wanted some normalcy back in their life. We winded up having one of our best shows here and for this I'm thankful.

Here is a pic of my booth during the show:

Before Warrenton officially ended we packed up to get ready for our son and DIL's wedding shower. We were busy getting ready for their wedding to follow that November and getting ready for our shows as well plus a buying trip we plan each year! We some how managed to get it all done. I guess that's why the year just flew by.

Our next show in November had us setting up at the Vintage Market Days show in Hempstead. This show turned out to be one of our top shows with them and we again were super pleased and just felt so blessed. Here is a pic of our space there:

I had seen lawnmowers used as Christmas tree skirts and thought how fun. It took almost the entire year to find these. They were a big hit at the show and while everyone loved them no one took them home. We'll probably bring them to Warrenton in the Spring.

Our last show of the year found us in Warrenton back at Zapp Hall for their Christmas in the Country show. We always look forward to this show and had a blast.

To say we had blessed year would be an understatement. We just can't thank those enough that have shopped with us this year. We met so many great new customers/friends and saw old (not really old) friends/customers. There are lots of new things planned for our business in 2018. We are adding new shows and are even going to do our first out of state show in February. I will try really hard to keep this blog up to date, but in the mean time if you're wondering what we're up to, where we've been or where we're going, please follow our Facebook and Instagram pages: Walker 1791 Salvage and Design.

I hope each and everyone of you that read our blog, or follow us online, or even come out to the shows to visit and shop with us have a very happy and prosperous New Year. Here's to new opportunities in 2018 and may God continue to bless each of you!!
