Salvage

Through the years I’ve had so many ask me where we find our salvage. I usually answer Everywhere!! There’s never just one place we can go to get it, we are just always on the hunt for it.

In the past few years we've salvaged small amounts here and there. Our biggest salvage job though to date occurred literally right when C0vid hit. We were asked if we were still interested in salvaging a church I had worked for a year to get and of course I said yes. you can follow this adventure on Instagram at

So when we received a call this past week to salvage an old house we jumped at this opportunity too. However we only had 4 days to salvage the house before the wreaking ball flattened it all. If you’ve ever salvaged buildings you know 4 days is never enough. So we salvaged what we could and watched so much that couldn’t be salvaged bulldozed away. I was told he had been contacting several people for over a week and no one seemed interested.

Here are a few of the items mostly not salvaged. However, we did get some really great wood which you can see either on Facebook or Instagram at

It really was heart breaking to leave this entire wall of Beadboard. it wasn’t that we didn’t try to get it but because they nailed it then years later put screws in it made it almost impossible to get. I don’t know why someone would have covered it up in the first place with ugly drywall but they did. This is what farmhouse dreams are made of and I would have never covered it up.

We did salvage some of the green beadboard but look at the multi colored boards, yep left it behind.

Here’s another wall full of awesome boards. We did get a few of these boards but just ran out of time to get the majority of this section.

These narrow stairs were solid wood and long leaf pine was mainly in the upstairs area. The guys working along side of us were able to salvage a big portion of this area.

What fascinated me too was all the interesting wallpaper that was put on top of the beadboard. Not the prettiest of wallpapers but look at the color of the paint of the beadboard underneath it. Nope didn’t get this section either.

And finally we discovered there were pieces of old signs placed under each pier and beam section. I’m not sure why they did this, but sadly we couldn‘t get these either.

If you’re curious what we did get to salvage check out my recent post on Instagram or Facebook:

It’s always a fun day when we get to salvage and save history. Hope to see you on the Junkin or Salvage Road.
